Debunking the Egg Myths – Fact vs Myth on Cholesterol & Egg!

You've probably heard about the love-hate relationship between eggs and cholesterol at some point in your fitness journey. We may not be able to answer this right away, but we can talk to you about cholesterol in eggs, and whether or not eating eggs will raise your cholesterol levels. Let’s debunk some myths around the ever-famous egg and cholesterol debate.

Myth #1

“Eggs contain cholesterol and increase your risk of heart disease.”

Fact Busted

“Researchers have studied people's diets and found no evidence linking daily egg consumption to heart disease or problems with cholesterol” said one of the renowned nutritionists at Fitlab.

Eggs are considered to be one of the main sources of protein for muscle gaining.

Myth #2

“Eggs shouldn't be consumed daily”

Fact Busted

This is one of the oldest myths in existence when it comes to eating eggs every day. Studies claim that an average healthy person can eat up to three eggs per day. One egg has about 75 calories, 5 grams of fat, 6 grams of protein, 0 grams of carbs, 67 milligrams of potassium, 70 grams of sodium, and 210 milligrams of cholesterol.

Myth #3

“Eating egg whites alone is healthier than eating yolks”

Fact Busted

Different kinds of vitamins and minerals are present in both egg yolks and whites. Although riboflavin and protein are all abundant in egg whites, the yolk contains the majority of the egg's nutrients and almost all of its protein.

Despite the fact that eggs are a nutritious powerhouse, the health food industry has long criticized egg yolks for raising blood cholesterol levels.

Although eggs are a source of cholesterol, they do not naturally raise cholesterol levels.

This is where the confusion lies.

High cholesterol is caused not just by eggs, but rather by a high-cholesterol diet.
